This SA retailer is giving out FREE Bok supporter merchandise

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup final between South Africa and New Zealand, Bok supporter apparel has become a coveted fashion item.

With the Springboks advancing to the final at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, finding an official RWC 2023 Springbok supporter’s jersey has become near impossible with retailers only having the unofficial versions still in stock.

And even those can’t be promised, unless you’re an extra large (XL) and upwards.

This week Moneyweb reached out to Nike, Sportsmans Warehouse and Totalsports stores at the country’s largest malls – including Mall of Africa, Sandton City, Canal Walk, V&A Waterfront, Gateway Theatre of Shopping and Rosebank Mall.

Most stores were either completely sold out of all Springbok RWC 2023 merchandise, or only had larger sizes of the old-school version of the jersey available. You’re also looking at spending around R900 for said jersey.

Rugby’s biggest #BokFriday Awaits

In comes Pick n Pay to the rescue. The South African retail giant has come through for the hoards of Springbok fans searching for Bok supporter-related apparel ahead of Saturday’s final but who also don’t want to spend a fortune on it.

Taking to its social media channels, Pick n Pay clothing announced: “Buy any tee and score a FREE rugby print, because backing the boys never looked this good!”

Of course, that’s the bit of fine print. Customers must first buy any t-shirt or body vest in-store to earn a free Bok supporter t-shirt that comes in three different print options:

“This is something special we are doing for our customers as we all join the ‘gees’ [spirit] of the country and unite in celebrating our national rugby team and their incredible performance,” Pick n Pay Clothing GM Hazel Pillay said.
