The match will take place in little-known Townsville in Australia having originally been scheduled for Dunedin in New Zealand.

Kick-off is set for 09:05.

– It’s been just over 100 years since the two countries first faced each other. The first meeting was on 13 August 1921 with New Zealand winning 13-5 in Dunedin

– In the 99 Tests to date, the All Blacks have won 59, the Springboks 36 and there have been 4 draws 

– Saturday’s Test will be the fifth between the sides at a neutral venue – and the first Test outside of a Rugby World Cup. To date the All Blacks have won three of the four ‘neutral’ Tests and scored a total of 90 points to the Springboks’ 62

– Broken into pre-isolation (before 1992) and post-isolation eras: Between 1921 and 1992, 37 Tests were played with the Springboks winning 20, the All Blacks 15 (plus 2 draws). However, from 1992 onwards, in 62 Tests the Springboks have only won 16 with the All Blacks triumphing on 44 occasions with another 2 draws

– Unbelievably, the Springboks still boast the best winning percentage out of all the All Blacks’ opponents – 36.4%

– The Springboks’ heaviest Test defeats both pre- and post-isolation have come at the hands of the All Blacks. From 1891 to 1992, their biggest loss was the 20-3 defeat in Auckland in 1965. Since 1992 it was the 57-0 massacre in Albany in 2017

– The Springboks’ biggest win over the All Blacks remains the 17-0 victory at Kingsmead in 1928

Morne Steyn holds the honour of being the Springbok who’s scored the most individual points in a match against the All Blacks – 31 – in the 31-19 victory at Kings Park in 2019

– Two Springboks have scored hat-tricks against the All Blacks – Ray Mordt (1981) and Marius Joubert (2004). No All Black player has scored more than two tries in a match.

Christian Cullen is the leading career try-scorer for New Zealand against the Springboks with 10. Bryan Habana is South Africa’s record holder with 8.

– Only one post-isolation Springbok coach holds a positive win record against the All Blacks – Nick Mallett with 57% (4 wins in 7 matches). Peter de Villiers has the most victories over the All Blacks (5 in 11 matches)

– Since 2004 New Zealand and South Africa have contested the Freedom Cup. It has been included as part of the Rugby Championship since 2006. The All Blacks have held the trophy since 2010
