The Springboks have clung on to their third place spot in the World Rugby rankings following their loss to the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The All Blacks bounced back from their defeat seven days earlier in Mbombela to beat the world champion Springboks 35-23 in Johannesburg.

The Springboks lost 1.63 points while the All Blacks gained a similar number to see the gap between the two rugby giants close to just 0.02.

The All Blacks moved back to fourth position, replacing England who dropped to fifth.

Meanwhile, in Saturday’s other Rugby Championship clash, Argentina walloped the Wallabies 48-17.

As a result, Australia slipped to seventh while Argentina stayed ninth.
