England’s Wayne Barnes will set a new record for Tests refereed in the clash between France and the Springboks in Marseille on Saturday, 12 November.

The match will be Barnes’ 101st, breaking out of a tie for the joint-record of 100 Tests he currently holds with retired Wales referee Nigel Owens.

Wayne Barnes, still only 43, tied Owens’ record last weekend in the Wales v All Blacks clash in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, the Springboks’ remaining two Tests on their current end of year tour will be blown by Mike Adamson of Scotland (against Italy in Genoa on 19 November) and Angus Gardner of Australia (against England in London on 26 November).

Adam Jones of Wales will carry the whistle in the South Africa ‘A’ clash against Bristol Bears in Bristol on Thursday, 17 November.
