Springbok lock RG Snyman has undergone surgery after re-rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last month.

It has been frustrating last two years for Snyman in terms of injuries to say the least.

After joining Munster at the beginning of last season, he ruptured a knee ligament, delaying his debut.

The 26-year-old Rugby World Cup-winner then suffered serious burns in the infamous fire pit incident just a few matches after finally making his debut.

Then, upon his return from the burn injury, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament for a second time just nine minutes after coming on as a replacement against Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship.

RG Snyman last played for the Springboks in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final against England in Yokohama. He will start his rehabilitation this week and is expected to return to action in anything between six to nine months’ time.
