Erasmus is currently serving a World Rugby ban from all rugby activity after his infamous 62-minute video in which he criticised the governing body’s match officials – in particular Australian referee Nic Berry – after the first British & Irish Lions series Test in July 2021.

The 49-year-old has been prolific on Twitter in recent months, sharing videos and messages with his 77 000 – and counting – followers.

In his early 1 January 2022 post, Rassie Erasmus wrote: “Probably get into trouble for this one(it is 01h00) Lets forget 2019 and focus 100% on 2023 !!! We appreciate all your opinions negative or positive!! Lets park 2019 and only talk 2023 (we can mention the BIL every now and then.”

Erasmus referenced the Springboks’ 2019 Rugby World Cup win in Japan where they trounced England 32-12 in the final in Yokohama.

Rassie Erasmus, who was the coach at that tournament before handing over to Jacques Nienaber, appears to have “parked” that win and is now focusing on the Springboks’ defence of their title in 2023 in France.
