Rassie Erasmus has time on his hands these days as he begins his two-month ban from all rugby.

While not necessarily sorry for his actions (he’s indicated his intention to appeal his ban), Erasmus managed to find a bar and enjoy a pint of Guinness.
However, in a moment of sorrow, he did express his “sadness” at not being part of the standard Friday ‘Captain’s practice’ ahead of a Test, but kept his chin up by suggesting, between gulps, that the next 60 days “will not be so bad as feared”.
World Rugby came down hard on both SA Rugby and Erasmus in its verdict following their two independent misconduct hearings.

As part of the judgement after World Rugby issued a charge of misconduct, Erasmus has been suspended with immediate effect from all rugby activities for two months.
In addition, he has been suspended from all match-day activities (including coaching, contact with match officials, and media engagement) with immediate effect until 30 September 2022.

The ruling also includes “a warning as to his future conduct and an apology to the relevant match officials”.
It of course means that Erasmus will not be able to fulfil a role as a water carrier, or in the coaches’ box, when the Springboks take on England at Twickenham this Saturday.

On Friday, Rassie Erasmus took to Twitter to post a photo (presumably of him) enjoying a Guinness, with the caption: “Sad not to be with the boys! Captain’s practice time now. I do, however, get the feeling the two months will not be so bad as feared.”

Erasmus later shared another post saying it was unfortunate that he wouldn’t be able to make contact or support the Springbok Women’s team in any way for the next couple of months.
The Springboks Women’s team are also in the United Kingdom on tour and on Saturday will play a friendly against an England under-20 side.
Next weekend they will play a Barbarian Women’s team on the same day that the Barbarians take on Samoa at Twickenham.
