SPRINGBOKS SET THE STANDARD IN DEFENCE

The Springboks took on Scotland and Romania in their opening two Pool B encounters and across the two matches they only conceded three points (a penalty by Finn Russell for the Scots) and didn’t let in any tries.

All of the 19 other sides competing at the Rugby World Cup have leaked tries and points, including against the minnow nations i.e Namibia, Chile and Portugal for example.

In terms of tries scored, only Scotland are yet to cross the whitewash, having only mustered up three points via a penalty against their World Cup opener against South Africa.

Overall, the Springboks have accumulated 94 points and 14 tries in two Tests.
