The World Cup winner is currently plying his trade with the Kubota Spears in Japan where he has been since leaving the Lions in 2020.

World Cup years often trigger a reshuffle among the ranks of rugby’s most sought-after players, a list on which Marx certainly finds himself.

Malcolm Marx rumours put to bed

The transfer market rumour mill has been hard at work, first linking Marx to French giants Clermont, who have since signed Australian hooker Folau Fainga’a, seemingly fulfilling the position.

Then according to several reports, Munster were making a big money move in an attempt to lure Marx from the land of the rising sun.

However, assistant coach Denis Leamy has put the rumours to bed.

“I’d like to work with Malcolm Marx, but there’s nothing in it,” said Leamy.

“There’s nothing there for us. No, that’s not something that’s happening, to be as clear about that as I can.

“Look, obviously we look in different areas of the market but that’s not a conversation that’s ongoing.”
