As exciting as the Springboks’ recent Test series against Wales was, there was as much interest in who sang the national anthem.

As exciting as the Springboks’ recent Test series against Wales was, there was as much interest in who sang the national anthem prior to kick-off.

As reported by The South African website, Caroline-Grace Brussow, the wife of former Springbok Heinrich Brussow, sang Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika ahead of the second Test between the Springboks and Wales in Bloemfontein last month.

A week later, ahead of what was her fiancée Eben Etzebeth’s 100th Test, Anlia van Rensburg delivered a sterling rendition of the anthem in the third and deciding clash at the Cape Town Stadium.

Appropriately, now that we have entered Women’s month, The South African website can exclusively confirm that Judith Sephuma will sing Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster Rugby Championship showdown between the Springboks and All Blacks at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

Born in Seshego and raised in Polokwane, Sephuma moved to Cape Town in 1994 to study as a jazz vocalist.

Now 48, Sephuma, is best known as a jazz and Afro-pop singer.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand national anthem will be sung by another South African singer, Tim Moloi.
