Elton Jantjies latest: Zeenat Simjee to be sent home AGAIN

It seems that the Elton Jantjies saga is far from over for all the parties involved especially for the flyhalf and Springboks dietician Zeenat Simjee.

After Janjties admitted to the affair, it has now been reported that Simjee is likely to be sent home from the Springboks camp.

The Springboks are currently preparing for Saturday’s Test against France with Simjee in tow.

Simjee has been thrown under the bus so to speak by the admission from Jantjies.

This has suggested an improper and unprofessional relationship between colleagues in the Springboks camp.

The revelation has seen Simjee hauled into meetings with SA Rugby to discuss her immediate future on the tour as well as the long-term path forward.

Jantjies has recanted the contents of a press release he issued in conjunction with Simjee some weeks ago.

Jantjies told News24: “I deeply regret allowing (representatives) to tell a story that I should’ve clearly handled myself. The statement put out into the media was not written by me; I understand that at the time, a statement needed to be issued on the articles being published about me.

“I also noted that I was portrayed to be a drug addict with mental health issues. I can proudly say I have no mental health issues, and I was never in a rehab centre for drug abuse.”

Bitter Springbok

According to News24, Jantjies has expressed bitterness as his life has spiralled while Simjee has been allowed to carry on as if nothing had happened.

Jantjies said he spent time in a rehab facility to undergo treatment for insomnia.

His scandalous 2022 has seen Jantjies arrested at the airport earlier this year, although no charged were brought against him for his actions on a flight from Dubai to South Africa, before the news broke that Jantjies was having an affair with the team dietician after a fan reportedly furnished Rapport with recordings of interactions at a guest house.

Jantjies and Simjee were both sent home from the Springbok camp when the team was in Argentina during this year’s Rugby Championship preparing for a clash against the Pumas.
