Erasmus ran the touchline handing out water – and advice – to the Springboks while national coach Jacques Nienaber sat in the coach’s box.

Post-match British & Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland quipped: “It was a little bit interesting! You won’t see me doing that. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

“A little bit strange, the director of South African rugby also being a water boy.”

“If you’re the water boy, you’re supposed to run onto the pitch with water.

“My advice to him would be to bring water next time.”
