The Boks will enter their final Outgoing Tour Test against England at Twickenham on Saturday with two goals: to wrap up their year-end tour on a winning note and to finish the season as the No 1 team in the world for the third year in a row.

The match marks the last of what has been a testing season for the players following close to four months on tour from their conditioning camp in Bloemfontein in June until the conclusion of the Rugby Championship.

That was followed by a short two-week break before a the year end tour, but the Boks will at least have a full squad available for this final match, with Damian Willemse having overcome his concussion that ruled him out of last weekend’s clash against Scotland.

A victory against England would see the Boks complete the tour unbeaten for the first time since 2013 following their victories against Wales and Scotland.

“England are a quality side and they have a good coach in Eddie Jones,” assistant coach Deon Davids commented. “It’s going to be a challenging game, and as a team, we’d like to build on the lessons learned in the Tests against Wales and Scotland.

“We know we have to be focused and task orientated this week, and we will place a big emphasis on our structures and systems.

“England will present unique challenges in different areas of the game, but we know where we need to improve, and we’d like to build on the momentum we achieved in the last two games.”

Davids added: “It’s always special to play against England at Twickenham and we are in a position in which we can carry some momentum into the final Test on tour and hopefully finish the year on a high note.

“It would certainly be a great reward for the players to finish off such a challenging season with a victory against England.”
