Springbok lock Marvin Orie will take over as president of the South African Rugby Players’ Association.

Springbok lock Marvin Orie will take over as president of the South African Rugby Players’ Association (SARPA) in the place of former Western Province lock Chris van Zyl.

Van Zyl retired from professional rugby earlier this year and Orie, 28, has taken over the reins.

The announcement was made after a meeting of SARPA’s executive committee this week.

Marvin Orie replaces Oupa Mohoje who has reverted to vice-president after deputising in Van Zyl’s absence, while the executive committee features Frans Steyn and fellow Cheetahs back Craig Barry, Springbok props Lizo Gqoboka and Thomas du Toit, and Blitzboks ace Siviwe Soyizwapi.
