Springbok great Rob Louw has taken to social media to post a video a close encounter with a leopard at, appropriately named, Leopard Creek Country Club.

Louw, who played 19 Tests for the Springboks, was in the same fourball for surfing icon Kelly Slater, when, at the sixth hole, they spotted a leopard in the rough.

And the leopard was not happy to see the duo venturing off the fairway in their golf cart!

Louw wrote: “On 6th at Leopard Creek! playing golf with the goat @kellyslater he video this @cutmaker this guy wasn’t happy a hissed at us!”

Louw tagged owner of Leopard Creek, Johann Rupert, in his tweet.

Clearly from now on any ball landing in the rough at the sixth hole at Leopard Creek should be considered LOST!

Louw, now 67, also won five consecutive Currie Cup titles for Western Province in the 1980s.

South African rugby legend Danie Craven rated Louw as “one of the best Springboks ever to represent South Africa”, “fast enough to play among the backs”, and a “superb ambassador for South Africa” due to “his friendly manner and attractive personality”.

Meanwhile, Kelly Slater, still surfing at the highest level at age 50, is an 11-time world champion and the greatest to ever catch a wave.

Earlier this month Slater took part in the Corona Open J-Bay at Jeffrey’s Bay.
