Springbok wing Sbu Nkosi scored twice but it wasn’t enough to save the World XV as they slumped to an agonising 48-42 against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.

MATCH RECAP

The two composite sides clashed at the home of rugby in London, with Eddie Jones at the helm of the victorious Barbarians and Steve Hansen coaching the unlucky World XV in a 14-try thriller.

In a high-octane encounter, the Barbarians led 33-28 at the break. Seta Tamanivalu, Adam Radwan, Tevita Li, Stephan Lewies, and Gareth Anscombe all scored for the BaaBaas in the opening stanza, while Springbok Sbu Nkosi, Sebastian Negri, Api Ratuniyarawa and Israel Folau crossed for four converted tries for the World XV.

The action continued at the same pace and high intensity in the second half. Bryn Hall and Nkosi both scored in the second half for the World XV, who came within a point of the Baabaas in the final five minutes.

But Eddie Jones men secured the win with Taminivalu’s second try on the hooter. Francois Hougaard and Sam Johnson both dotted down before the Fijian, with Alun Wyn Jones failing with his two conversion attempts on the latter scores.
