The 37-year-old flyhalf recently announced his international retirement, but will remain part of Bulls head coach Jake White’s squad for the next 18 months.

Blue Bulls Rugby Union president Willem Strauss revealed the news in a post on Twitter.

“Morne Steyn’s contract has been extended to June 2023! This product of Sand du Plessis HS in Bloemfontein’s value as mentor and player is immeasurable. A true Vodacom Bulls and Springbok legend of his generation!” tweeted Strauss.

He finished his career as South Africa’s second-highest point scorer of all time behind Percy Montgomery’s tally of 893.
