Sharks flyhalf Jordan Chait joins Israeli club – along with FIVE other SA players!

Israel side Tel Aviv Heat – in collaboration with the Sharks – have announced the signing of flyhalf Jordan Chait on a short-term deal.

Tel Aviv Heat – in collaboration with the Sharks – have announced the signing of flyhalf Jordan Chait on a short-term deal until 20 December 2021.

Jordan Chait has been contracted to the Sharks since 2019 after starring for Maties in the Varsity Cup.

He was nominated as one of the three “Backs that Rock” and scored 125 points which included six tries which made him the second highest points scorer ever behind Demetri Catrakilis, who is one of the assistant coaches at Tel Aviv Heat.

Sharks CEO Eduard Coetzee said: This is a wonderful opportunity for Jordan to get much needed game time in Europe and this experience will certainly benefit him in the future.

Jordan Chait captained the SACS 1st XV in 2015 and attended the WP Rugby Institute in Stellenbosch in 2016.

He represented WP at under-18 level, Currie Cup under-19 and under-21 and won the Varsity Cup in 2018 and 2019.

Former UCT coach Kevin Musikanth, who is now the Director of Rugby at Tel Aviv Heat said: “We are very grateful to The Sharks for being willing to loan Jordan to us. Jordan is an exceptional player and I look forward to coaching him once again. He is sure to lead from the front as our pivot and we are all very excited that we were able to work together with The Sharks and I look forward to Jordan lighting up the Super Cup… “

Meanwhile, in recent weeks the Tel Aviv Heat have signed a number of South African players as they prepare for the Rugby Europe Super Cup, including Sebastiaan Jobb, Jared Sichel, Thembinkosi Mangwana, Cal Smid and Xolisa Guma.
