The Springbok Sevens side have slipped to fourth place in the updated HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series log after a disappointing showing in Hamilton, New Zealand.

The Blitzboks topped their pool, but lost in the Cup quarter-finals to France and then lost in their 5th-8th-place playoff match to Ireland, resulting in a tie for seventh place finish in New Zealand.

New Zealand lead the way on 63 points, two ahead of the USA who in turn are a further two points ahead of New Zealand Sevens winners, Argentina.

The Blitzboks are on 57 points.

The New Zealand Sevens was the fourth of 11 rounds scheduled for the 2022/23 season.
