Fans will have the opportunity to mix with the Blitzboks and the Springbok Women’s Sevens team during a meet and greet signing session in Cape Town on Saturday.

The Blitzboks are preparing for the upcoming sevens series tournaments in Dubai and Cape Town in the first two weeks in December, while the women’s side will also compete at the Cape Town leg.

On Thursday, a SA Rugby official announced that both national sevens teams will engage in an open signing session at the Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, situated between Bellville and Durbanville, from 1:30pm 3:30pm on Saturday, 19 November.

Fans will be able to get autographs and take selfies with their favourite players and there will be prizes up for grabs.

The Springbok Sevens team are currently 10th on the World Rugby Sevens Series table, after one tournament — in Hong Kong — and will look to improve that standing in Dubai and Cape Town before the turn of the new year.

BOMBSHELL: World Rugby bans Rassie Erasmus … again

Blitzboks rocked by injury

Earlier this month, the Blitzboks suffered a significant injury setback with news that playmaker Ronald Brown had sustained a long-term hand injury.

Brown has since undergone surgery and will miss the two December events.

While Brown’s absence is a setback, the Blitzboks received some good news with confirmation that World Series winners Zain Davids and Muller du Plessis have recovered sufficiently from their respective injury knocks and were cleared to return to action.

The duo is set to be included in the squad for the Dubai event, where the Blitzboks will face Australia, Great Britain and Kenya in Pool A of the tournament.

Pool B will consist of Fiji, Argentina, New Zealand and Uruguay, Pool C will have France, Ireland, Spain and Uganda while Samoa, USA, Canada and Japan will contest Pool D.
