The South African Sevens team have been handed a tough pool draw for this weekend’s Vancouver Sevens tournament.

The Blitzboks, who are currently third in the standings after six of the 11 rounds this season, have been drawn in Pool B alongside Argentina, France and Japan.

Argentina are currently ranked second, France are seventh and Japan 16th.

The Blitzboks will need to turn around their fortunes in a hurry if they wish to finish in the top two and progress to the Cup quarter-finals.

Should that materialise, in the last 8 they will face the winner or runner-up from Pool C.

Pool C contains Fiji (fourth), Great Britain (10th), Uruguay (11th) and Kenya (13th).

Blitzboks will open against France

The Blitzboks will face France on Friday, 3 March at 22:14 (SA time), followed by a clash against Japan on Saturday, 4 March at 04:38 (SA time).

The Springbok Sevens side will conclude their pool play against Argentina on Saturday, 4 March at 23:26 (SA time).

The Cup final is scheduled for Monday, 5 March at 04:26 (SA time).
