The 17-year-old Jordaan is in ICU after undergoing emergency brain surgery due to a head injury he sustained against Affies at the North-South rugby festival on Tuesday.

The player and student from Paarl Boys’ High was rushed to Muelmed Hospital where was immediately taken to the operating table after suffering bleeding to the brain. It is reported that the operation lasted four and a half hours.

Jordaan’s head, reportedly, slammed into the ground after what his father described as “normal tackle” during Boishaai’s match against festival hosts Affies in Pretoria yesterday. He also suffered several seizures on his way to hospital.

Jordaan has not yet regained consciousness but his condition is said to be stable.

UPDATE OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM PAARL BOYS’ HIGH

Paarl Boys’ High made an official statement via its social media platforms, saying everyone at the school is keeping the player and his family in their prayers and thanking all those outside of their school community for their continued support.
