In hot and humid conditions at Kings Park, the Sharks probably won’t be entirely satisfied with their performance against a weak Union Bordeaux Bègles team, but ultimately they got the job done.

Once again, captain Siya Kolisi stood out as one of the home team’s top performers as he delivered an imposing all-round effort to inspire the Sharks to a one-sided win.

In fairness, the coastal side would have felt they deserved to rack up a far bigger win, but several opportunities were missed in tricky humid conditions.

The Sharks have been in impressive form of late, and once again there are signs that they could be real Champions Cup contenders, especially as they welcomed back another key player in Aphelele Fassi.

At one point in the first half, the hosts led 22-0, and although there was plenty of fighting spirit displayed by the French side, they were ultimately no match for the Sharks.

The Sharks qualified for the Round of 16 in the Champions Cup
