Marius van der Westhuizen will referee Saturday’s Super Rugby Unlocked clash between the Stormers and Cheetahs at Newlands.

Referees, their assistants and TMOs have sadly once again in the spotlight of late after a series of baffling decisions, especially in last weekend’s Round 5 action.

Here’s hoping things improve this time around.

Friday night’s match between Griquas and the Sharks in Kimberley will be handled by little-known Griffin Colby. Rasta Rasivhenge and Paul Mente will be on Assistant Referee duty, while Jaco Peyper will be in the TMO booth.

Kick-off at Tafel Lager Park is at 19:00.

BULLS, WHO TOP THE STANDINGS, HAVE A BYE

Saturday’s early 16:30 match between the Lions and Pumas at Ellis Park in Johannesburg will be blown by AJ Jacobs, while Aimee Barrett-Theron and Morne Ferreira will run the touchlines. Willie Vos has been entrusted with the TMO duties.

Saturday evening’s clash in Cape Town will feature Van der Westhuizen with the whistle. He will be assisted by Cwengile Jadezweni and Egon Seconds, while Joey Klaaste-Salmans will be the TMO.

The Bulls, who currently top the standings, have a bye this weekend.
