The Lions and loosehead prop Dylan Smith have agreed to a mutual separation with immediate effect.

South African prop Dylan Smith has joined Stade Francais as medical joker until the end of the Top 14 season, the Top 14 club announced on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old, who played in two Super Rugby finals and won a Currie Cup title in 2015, quit the Johannesburg-based Lions franchise on Monday with no indication at the time as to his next move.

Stade Francais said in a statement that Smith “comes to strengthen the pack”.

Dylan Smith is allowed to join because of the absence of Quentin Bethune who has been out of action since January.
