David Kriel scored two tries to help the Bulls claim a bonus-point Currie Cup victory over Western Province who had three players yellow-carded at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday.

In the first of two north-south derbies this week – the second will be between the Stormers and Bulls in the United Rugby Championship (URC) in Cape Town on Saturday – the Pretoria side bagged early bragging rights, winning 45-34.
Bulls are now top of the Currie Cup log
The win moved the defending champion Bulls above the Free State Cheetahs – who had a bye this round – to the top of the Currie Cup table.
The Cheetahs do have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Western Province’s chances of a semi-final spot are rapidly vanishing as they now trail fourth-placed Griquas by eight points with just five matches to play.
Western Province have won just one of their seven matches this season.
