Cheslin Kolbe has reportedly said NO to the chance to return to South Africa and finish his career at Western Province.

As reported by Netwerk24, the 28-year-old, who played close on 100 matches for both WP and the Stormers between 2012 and 2017, was presented with a five-year contract to the value of R55 million with multiple perks, including employment for his wife.

However, according to the website and the Springbok star’s agents, he turned down the offer.

The offer reportedly also included a proviso to accommodate Kolbe’s wish to remain in France until January 2023 when he and his family would qualify for French citizenship.

Meanwhile, SA Rugby mag has reportedly has been informed that the Toulon star had agreed to the offer in principle before doing a dramatic U-turn.

Cheslin Kolbe a target of the Sharks

It’s understood that Kolbe, who is represented by Roc Nation, turned down the deal on the basis of “safety and security” concerns.

However, in contradiction to that, it’s understood that Kolbe plans on joining a growing number of his Springbok team-mates – and fellow Roc Nation clients – in Durban after the 2023 Rugby World Cup as a member of the Sharks.
