After Springbok No 8 Duane Vermeulen was forced off the field with an ankle injury in last Friday’s 31-27 win over the Stormers, it has now been confirmed that Louw suffered a knee injury in the same match.

The star Bulls flank, who many considered unlucky not to be included in the Springbok squad to face the British & Irish Lions, took to social media to confirm the news.

“It’s all part of the game! Out for a few, but I will come back stronger. See you soon,” Louw wrote on Instagram.

The Bulls head into this weekend’s final round of matches against the Sharks on top of the standings with 20 points.

But the Sharks are just four points behind and could snatch first place with a bonus-point victory.
