Canada and Namibia have nothing but pride to play for at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. That’s if they’ll even play at all.

Canada coach Kingsley Jones has gone for the most experienced line-up he can extract from his squad of 31 for Canada’s final match at Rugby World Cup 2019.

In probably their best chance to record a victory, Canada take on Namibia in the final Pool B match at the Kamaisha Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Tyler Ardron, Jeff Hassler, Conor Trainor, Ciaran Hearn, Gordon McRorie and DTH van der Merwe, pictured, represent almost 50 RWC matches’ worth of experience in a team that has five changes from the one that started in the 66-7 defeat by South Africa.

That is if the match even goes ahead, however. Typhoon Hagibis has thrown the tournament into disarray with two fixtures already called off and others also under threat. At the time of writing, on Saturday afternoon, World Rugby issued the following statement on its website.

We have advised the Namibia and Canada teams of the current situation and potential of cancellation, and our message to fans not currently in Kamaishi is not to travel before confirmation of the match status following a full assessment of the venue and associated infrastructure early on Sunday morning.

The tournament is over for both sides, regardless, with South Africa and New Zealand the two teams to progress from this pool.
