Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi is in line to add another prestigious feather on his cap, as he has scored a nomination in the Laureus Sports Awards.

The flanker made history by becoming the first ever black African to skipper the Boks and started off his reign on a winning note, as he led his charges to a 2-1 win over England in a three-match series which took place in June.

He drew large applause as he emerged from the Ellis Park tunnel to in the first Test of the series. The historic moment has earned him a nomination alongside Spanish soccer legend, Andres Iniesta, whose Barcelona farewell earned him a Laureus Sports Moment nomination.

Other nominees include a Pakistani cricket protege named Eli who, at the age of seven, has wowed many with his leg-spin bowling, reminiscent of Aussie legend, Shane Warne.

Also cracking the nod was Nathan Rae’s tribute to the victims of the 2017 Manchester terror attack.

Kolisi has made 31 appearances in the green and gold since making his debut against Scotland in June 2013, replacing former Bulls loose forward, Arno Botha, who hobbled off the field in only the fifth minute.

Only aged 22 then, the Stormers man made an immediate impact, as he was named man of the match, helping his side to a comfortable 30-17 victory.
