Kaizer Chiefs 2-2 Bloemfontein Celtic

A modest patch of spectators witnessed a thrilling encounter when Bloemfontein Celtic produced two late goals to defeat Kaizer Chiefs in Steve Komphela’s return to FNB Stadium.

Khama Billiat opened the scoring in the first half when he scored his first league goal for Amakhosi, and his third overall this season, before Karabo Malope made it two in the second half.

With the hosts looking to be well on their way to their first league win this season, former Orlando Pirates duo Khethokwakhe Masuku and Ndumiso Mabena ensured that it wouldn’t happen, as they each found the net.

Free State Stars 2-2 Cape Town City

There was another four-goal thriller at Goble Park as Free State Stars were held to a two-all draw by Cape Town City.

Matthew Rusike’s early goal was cancelled out by Bengali Keita, who netted for the hosts in the second half before Goodman Dlamini put them in the lead for the first time in the contest.

There was further drama late in the second half as Craig Martin provide the equaliser at stoppage time.

Supersport United 2-1 Chippa United

There was no happy return to Lucas Moripe Stadium for Eric Tinkler, as his Chippa United fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Supersport United.

Teboho Mokoena celebrated his Bafana call-up with a goal in the 16th minute, before it was cancelled out 11 minutes later by Kurt Lentjies. Evans Rusike put the hosts back in the lead three minutes from the break.

Golden Arrows 1-1 Polokwane City

Another Wednesday PSL fixture ended in a draw as last season’s joint top goal scorer Rodney Magalela got off the mark as his equaliser cancelled out Nkanyiso Mngwengwe’s early goal to salvage a draw for Polokwane City against Golden Arrows.

Bidvest Wits 3-0 AmaZulu

Bidvest Wits were back to winning ways – and in spectacular fashion – as they thumped AmaZulu 3-0 at Bidvest Stadium.

The goals from The Students all came from new signings as Gift Motupa, Mxolisi Macuphu and Simon Murray all got on the scoresheet.

Baroka FC 1-1 Highlands Park

Ranga Chivaviro nabbed a late equaliser for Baroka against Highlands Park at Peter Mokaba Stadium after Thabo Motlafi had put the Lions of the North ahead in the 74th minute.

Black Leopards 1-2 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates finally got back to winning ways as they beat Black Leopards 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in a match that wasn’t short of its share of drama.

The Buccaneers got on the board in the 34th minute, through the boot of a Leopards player when Thivhavhudzi Ndou deflected Thamsanqa Gabuza’s cross into his own net before the striker’s emotionally charged exit from the game which forced the visitors to finish with ten men as he earned himself a red card.

After the half-hour mark, Vincent Pule doubled the lead as he got his first competitive goal for the Soweto giants, before the hosts responded five minutes later through Joseph Mhlongo.
