The PSL takes a short break and attention now turns to the Nedbank Cup as the first of the last 32 fixtures take place on Wednesday night.

As usual, this stage of the competition is littered with “David and Goliath” clashes with two of those scheduled for the day. We could see one of the teams in the top flight suffer an early exit courtesy of a lower league side.

One big clash dominates the headlines but the other two fixtures should also provide some fireworks as the underdogs will surely come out firing in order to prove a point.

AmaZulu v Mthatha Bucks, King Zwelithini Stadium – 19:30

AmaZulu are at home to National First Division side Mthatha Bucks, a re-incarnation of former PSL side Bush Bucks who were relegated in the 2005/06 season.

The home side have been enjoying some decent form in the Absa Premiership and will be hoping that it spills over into cup competition as they take a shot at their first piece of silverware since hoisting the League Cup back in 1992.

Ubuntu Cape Town v Polokwane City, Athlone Stadium – 19:30

Polokwane City travel all the way to the Mother City to take on first division side Ubuntu Cape Town at Athlone Stadium.

Both sides are in a fight for survival in their respective leagues with the hosts languishing in last place in the second tier of South African football.

Bidvest Wits v Cape Town City, Bidvest Stadium – 19:30

The pick of the day’s fixtures is the big clash between Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City at Bidvest Stadium.

The visitors are in search for their first piece of silverware this season while Wits will hope to add to the Telkom Knockout title they clinched by beating Bloemfontein Celtic in November last year.
