The PSL returns on Wednesday with just one fixture scheduled before the Nedbank Cup takes center stage on the weekend with just 16 clubs remaining.

Mamelodi Sundowns remain on summit of the league standings after consolidating their position at the top by emerging victorious in their last outing when they travelled to KwaZulu-Natal and returned with all three points as they beat AmaZulu 3-1 at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday night.

Orlando Pirates on the other hand remained within touching distance of the log leaders as they also claimed maximum points, thanks to an impressive 3-1 victory over bitter rivals, Kaizer Chiefs in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

This means that the gap between first and second place remains four points with just seven fixtures remaining for the top five clubs who are separated by a mere eight points as the league campaign draws to an exciting close.

The bottom of the table sees Platinum Stars in a desperate situation as they are looking to avoid automatic relegation. However, they will need a drastic change in fortunes as they are seven points behind Ajax Cape Town, the team directly above them.

Bloemfontein Celtic v Polokwane City – Dr Molemela Stadium – 19:30

Polokwane City are tied with Ajax at 24 points and they will be hoping to break free of the relegation zone when they travel to meet Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday.

This particular fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday, 17 February 2018 but had to be postponed as the visitors were mourning the tragic death of defender, Mogau Tsehla, who lost his life in a car accident the Monday prior.

Celtic are ninth on the log and will no doubt be eyeing a top eight finish this time around after narrowly escaping relegation last season.
