Midweek PSL action continues on Wednesday night with six fixtures lined up for the day, after a long break which will see most sides take to the field for in a competitive game for the first time in over two weeks.

Mamelodi Sundowns remain the favourites to clinch a record eighth league title as they currently top the standings, with a game in hand on second-placed Orlando Pirates, who sit just a mere point behind at this crucial stage of the competition.

PSL fixtures, Wednesday 4 April

Orlando Pirates v Bloemfontein Celtic, Orlando Stadium

Pirates resume their pursuit for top spot as they host Bloemfontein Celtic at Orlando Stadium. Having been knocked out of the Nedbank Cup, the league is now the Buccaneers’ last chance at any form of silverware this season, and three points on home turf will be a more than welcome return.

Free State Stars v Kaizer Chiefs, Goble Park

Fourth-placed Free State Stars welcome fifth-placed Kaizer Chiefs to Goble Park in what can also be seen as a chance for both sides to suss each other out before their Nedbank Cup semifinal fixture later this month. Nevertheless, both sides will see this game as more than just a dress rehearsal as they look to revive their league title challenge.

Platinum Stars v Baroka, Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace

Platinum Stars are staring at the face of relegation and will welcome nothing less than three points as they entertain Baroka at Royal Bafokeng.

Cape Town City v Golden Arrows, Cape Town Stadium

Cape Town City will want to get over the disappointment of their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal exit as they host Golden Arrows. The home side are currently occupying sixth position, nine points adrift of Sundowns.

Polokwane City v Supersport United, Old Peter Mokaba Stadium

Supersport United will be searching for a way out of the bottom half of the log when they travel to take on Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Matsatsansa are in a rather unfamiliar position as they sit just two spots from the base of the table.

Mamelodi Sundowns v Chippa United, Loftus Versveld

Log leaders, Sundowns will look to break away from the chasing pack as they welcome Chippa United to Loftus Versfeld. They come up against a side which has already crushed their chances at silverware this season when they knocked them out of the Telkom Knockout late last year.

All matches kick off at 19:30.
