The return of the PSL means it’s going down in the Mother City as Cape Town City host Kaizer Chiefs at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon, in one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the weekend.

The two sides enjoyed contrasting fortunes in their last outings, with the hosts progressing to a second consecutive MTN8 final after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties, while Amakhosi were made to wait for silverware once more with a 1-0 defeat to Supersport United.

In what has been a nightmare start, new Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas is still in search of a first league win at the Soweto giants and has a huge task on his hands against his opposite number, Benni McCarthy who has been quite vocal about his desire to emerge victorious on Saturday.

“We’re on a good run and we face a dragon that’s been wounded a little bit – Chiefs’ run hasn’t been the greatest, so they’re wounded,” he is quoted by KickOff.

“So if we can capitalise on that then it would be perfect preparation for getting ready for the final. But, for me, I’m 100 percent focused and switched on for Saturday’s game, more than any other game.”

The Italian will however be urged on by the backing he has received from the very top, in none other than club chairman, Kaizer Motaung, who urged supporters to show patience while he is still finding his feet.

Cape Town City vs Kaizer Chiefs: Head to head

Kaizer Chiefs will no doubt be buoyed by their performance the last time they visited Cape Town City in the Mother City, as they returned the victorious side, winning 2-0, before completing the league double with a 1-0 victory at home.

Prior to last season, it was City who had the upper hand, winning the only meeting at the time which produced a result.

Kick off: 15:00
