PSL: Absa Premiership fixtures for 17-18 August 2018

The season is now well and truly underway.

This weekend sees yet another round of PSL fixtures with the action kicking off no later than Friday night.

Midweek action saw both Soweto giants return with disappointing results, as Kaizer Chiefs were held to a one-all draw by Baroka, while their fierce rivals, Orlando Pirates went one worse as they lost 1-0 to early season pace-setters, Bidvest Wits.

One clash is lined up for Friday night, while there’s a further five fixtures scheduled for Saturday in what promises to be a bumper weekend of PSL action.

PSL fixtures Friday, 17 August

Maritzburg United vs Kaizer Chiefs, Harry Gwala Stadium – 19:30

Both Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs are in search of their first league win of the season and should provide fireworks when they meet at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.

The hosts are still without a point in their two matches so far, while the Soweto giants have only collected two courtesy of draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC.

Saturday, 18 August

Polokwane City vs Baroka FC, Peter Mokaba Stadium – 15:00

Saturday’s action kicks off with the Polokwane derby between Polokwane City and Baroka at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Cape Town City vs Golden Arrows, Cape Town Stadium – 18:00

Cape Town City will look to bounce back from the disappointment of their last outing when they host Golden Arrows at Cape Town Stadium.

Both sides will be keen to bounce back after disappointing outings last time out as they both suffered defeats.

Chippa United vs Black Leopards, Sisa Dukashe Stadium – 20:15

Mdantsane will witness a historic occasion on Saturday night as Chippa United and Black Leopards clash for the first time ever in the top flight when they meet at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

Bidvest Wits vs Supersport United, Bidvest Stadium – 20:15

The last of Saturday night’s clashes sees the rampant Bidvest Wits host Supersport United at Bidvest Stadium.

In three matches so far, The Clever Boys have won all three of their matches so far, having disposed of both Soweto giants in successive weeks.
