Cape Town City kick off their third season in the Premier Soccer League in 2018/19.

Boss and Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy takes charge of his second campaign in the Cape with high hopes of scaling the top of the PSL table.

The Blue and Gold Army pushed winners Bidvest Wits and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns close in the debut season.

They then finished fifth in McCarthy’s first campaign.

Optimism is growing at the Cape Town Stadium, though, not least because of the arrival of a club-record signing.

Bafana starlet Gift Links will grace the wing after transferring from Pyramids FC on a five-year contract.

Riyaad Norodien’s arrival will provide further width after a goal-starved last season, while Kouassi Kouadja comes into the back line.

Owner John Comitis will be desperate for stability off the pitch after several short-term switches from the City of Cape Town-owned stadium last season.

Rivals Ajax Cape Town have also bitten the dust, having been relegated to the National First Division amid a courtroom hoo-ha that stretched well into July.

That leaves City flying the flag at the top table for Cape Town ahead of an intriguing third year of action since the demise of Mpumalanga Black Aces.
