Bloemfontein Celtic head into the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League season under a cloud despite a new managerial era.

Steve Komphela penned a two-year deal to take charge in the Free State following three seasons at the helm of Kaizer Chiefs.

It’s an appointment club owner Max Tshabalala is pleased with. He said:

“Our strategy was to get a reputable local coach with immense pedigree who can take us to greater heights and in Steve we found an appropriate candidate.”

But the experienced boss may have to call on all of his famous use of language to keep his playing squad onside.

Celtic have been dogged by financial issues in recent times, with Tshabalala admitting he is looking for outside investment.

That has left wages unpaid and players on strike – exactly what you don’t need with a tough PSL campaign on the horizon.

Last season was bang average as Siwelele finished 11th on the log amid a congested mid-table.

Thato Lingwati has signed a two-year deal after leaving National First Division side Jomo Cosmos.

Ryan de Jongh has also been brought in to bolster the midfield ranks in Mangaung.

And that’s not the only area to be beefed up, with the club also signing a sponsorship deal with a meat company. Tasty.
