Tottenham begin a bold new era as the 2018/19 English Premier League season comes around.

Well a bold new stadium anyway, once it’s finished.

Spurs will move into their shiny new home at White Hart Lane after a final few EPL fixtures lodging at Wembley.

And while some things are new, some things stay the same.

Mauricio Pochettino didn’t make a single signing ahead of the new season.

They became the first Premier League side not to spend a single penny since the transfer window was introduced in 2003.

A combination of World Cup madness, owner Daniel Levy’s parsimony and a relative satisfaction with his existing squad saw to that.

There’s good reason for cheer on that front, too.

Spurs have recorded a trio of top three finishes in the league, having not finished outside the top six since 2009.

The goals of England’s World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane have taken them that step nearer the title.

But a decade without major silverware in any competition is starting to grate in north London.

The stadium switch will need to be galvanizing rather than disruptive, then, if Spurs are to take the next steps to becoming a modern day super club.
