Pitso impressed with Pirates coach

Pitso Mosimane was full of praises for Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro following his impressive debut season with the Buccaneers.

Al-Ahli Saudi FC coach Pitso Mosimane has praised Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.following his impressive debut season.

The Spaniard guided the Buccaneers to two trophies; the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup and a second place finish in the DStv Premiership.

In his interview with Power FM, Pitso congradulated Pirates after they defeated Sekhukhune United 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final.

“Firstly, I would like to congratulate the Buccaneers. Aah! Ezimnyama ngenkani bafethu (the Mighty Blacks, my brothers),” he said.

Pitso gives praise to Riveiro

“Two trophies in his first year. I am very impressed by the coach. I have been listening to him talking about the formations and tactics – he is spot on. He knows his stuff. He is calm and humble and he has done very well. You know my opinion about European coaches in South Africa.”

The former Bafana Bafana mentor said that SA football needed European coaches that can make an impact.

“This is what we want to see, he (Riveiro) is adding value. Brilliant, this is what we need from European coaches in South Africa,” added Mosimane. 

Mosimane could leave Saudi Arabia by the end of June

Pitso is currently on his way out of Al-Ahli.

Reports emerged that Pitso Mosimane and his technical staff have not received their salaries since January at the club. This is despite the fact that the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor helped the Saudi side get promotion to the Saudi Pro League in his first season at the club.

Mosimane has drawn interest from an African powerhouse in Tunisia and also Zamalek from Egypt. If he ends up with a bug team in North Africa, he might be facing Riveiro in the CAF Champions League very soon.
