What drama.

Whew, who knew cycling could be so dramatic? World Champion Peter Sagan was disqualified from the Tour de France for a “dangerous move” on Tuesday.

What move exactly? Well, this.

Opinion seems to be split in two: argy-bargy at that part of the race is part and parcel of the sport and the Tour has completely overreacted because others have gotten away with worse.

And: finally! A good move.

The crash has ended Mark Cavendish participation in the tour. That’s bad news for Team Dimension Data team (that’s our South African side, if you’re keeping tabs).

Sagan will, however appeal the decision, the BBC reported.

Sagan said:

“Mark was coming really fast from the back and I just didn’t have time to react and to go left. He came into me and he went into the fence.

“When I was told after the finish that Mark had crashed, I went straight away to find out how he was doing.

“We are friends and colleagues in the peloton and crashes like that are never nice. I hope Mark recovers soon.”
