Bafana Bafana vice-captain Percy Tau has reflected on his stay so far at Al Ahly as well scoring twice on his debut for the Egyptian giants.
Tau, who joined Al Ahly from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2021, said scoring on debut is always good.
He feels it takes away all the pressure, and he knows this because he did it in all the teams he played for abroad except in England.
“It’s always good to score on your debut. It takes away the pressure and it’s something that I’ve always done in my career,” Tau told reporters.
“In Belgium, I scored on every debut. It just didn’t happen in England,” he recalled.
Furthermore, Tau believes scoring on debut was enough to convince his Al Ahly that he can contribute positively to the team.
Tau added that he is a different player since joining Al Ahly in the sense that he’s more confident with himself than when he was at Brighton.
“It takes off all the talk and puts you in a better space, even with your teammates they then get to understand that you can also contribute to the team.
“I’m confident with myself now that I’m playing. I feel different now,” added Tau.
