Orlando Pirates: Rhulani Mokwena tells Micho Sredojevic ‘no’ [video]

Orlando Pirates bagged all three points in the PSL on Tuesday night, but the touchline exchange between coaches Rhulani Mokwena and Micho Sredojevic stole the show.

Orlando Pirates fans have a new meme to add to their growing collection thanks to Rhulani Mokwena and Micho Sredojevic’s exchange on the touchline during the Bucs’ win over Polokwane City in the PSL on Tuesday night.

Bucs won 2-1, thanks to goals from Caio Marcelo and Justin Shonga.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Scores were tied 0-0 at half-time and a late strike from Ayanda Nkili in stoppage time, with five minutes added, would have left a few fans feeling a bit tense.

Orlando Pirates are on top of the PSL log with 22 points, followed by Wits on 20 and Bloemfontein Celtic and Rise and Shine both on 17. See the latest log and results from the PSL here.

But that wasn’t the best part of the night. With Pirates leading 0-2,  coaches Rhulani Mokwena and Micho Sredojevic’s had a rather comical exchange on the touchline. Obviously in disagreement over something, Mokwena took control, and pretty much told Sredojevic NOPE.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all wanted to do this to a coach, whatever our team.

Mokwena joined the club at the start of the 2017/18 season and has already batted away rumours that he is being lured elsewhere. At a recent press conference, he said:

“I don’t want to intensify rumours because they will always be there, and when you respond to rumours it’s like pouring oil onto a fire.

“But I find a lot of peace in my life and coaching career because I enjoy what I do in the here and now, and I don’t focus too much on the future because then I’ll look for something sweet when I haven’t had my meal; that’s not going to help me then.”

He denied that he had been directly approached by other Premier Soccer League clubs and then said he’s only heard “whistling”.

“No [no formal approach]. Sometimes in the location when you whistle at a girl while she’s walking past, you think you’ve approached her but she walks past because how many other people have whistled at her? So, it’s very difficult. I don’t know what it is to ‘approach’. People whistle, yes, but it’s whistling. So, what do you say?”

We say no, coach.
