Proteas captain Faf du Plessis is not a happy camper after his Mzansi Super League side Paarl Rocks was booted out of the competition without a ball bowled in the eliminator on Friday.

The Cape outfit travelled to Johannesburg for a decisive clash against Jozi Stars – an encounter which would have seen the winner take on Cape Town Blitz in the tournament’s inaugural final at Newlands on Sunday.

However, rain had the final say as play was not possible in the time allocated for the encounter, which resulted in the home side progressing to the final two due to a superior log placing at the end of the round-robin stage.

With no extra day reserved for any of the matches bar the final, members of the losing side were bound to feel a little disgruntled, and the skipper was one of the first Paarl Rocks players to let out his frustrations, taking to Twitter on Saturday.

“Sad way to go out of the @MSL_T20 league. Proud of the @Paarl_Rocks. What a great competition it has been. Definitely, need to have a reserve day for a semi-final going forward. Good luck to the two teams in the finals.”

A few more Paarl Rocks players also expressed frustration over the manner in which their side exited the competition, with Proteas duo Tabraiz Shamsi and David Wiese also chipping in.

Sad way to get knocked out of the comp due to rain…

I want to wish the 2 finalists all the best for the final but we definitely have the best dancer in the competition ???????????? pic.twitter.com/XdJF94pVuK— Tabraiz Shamsi (@shamsi90) December 14, 2018

Sometimes the wickets come, sometimes they dont… the goal is always to try and contribute positively to the team in whichever way possible

A sad way to get knocked out last night but I had a great time with the @Paarl_Rocks gents in the first edition of the @MSL_T20 ???? pic.twitter.com/tva4ZrsoST— Tabraiz Shamsi (@shamsi90) December 15, 2018

Really disappointing way to get knocked out of the @MSL_T20 sport is all about competing and we didn’t get that chance last night!! Surely you need a reserve day for a semi final!! Anyway I’ve had an awesome time with @Paarl_Rocks thank you everybody for your support!!— David Wiese (@David_Wiese) December 15, 2018
