The best way to blow off some steam and settle long-brewing rivalries is at Hell in a Cell.

Since its inception, it has earned the reputation of consistently being the most merciless event in WWE, and not coincidentally, a creator of many memorable moments. The 14th instalment of the main event is once again set to bring the most epic match-ups and settle a few scores. It won’t be the first time that these superstars will meet in the ring but it will undoubtedly among the most memorable moments.

As the WWE Universe anticipate an unforgettable event, here is a look at four of the most destructive Hell In A Cell matches in WWE history.

Sasha Banks vs Charlotte Flair (2016) Hell in a Cell

This served as one of the most historic matches as it was the first time female superstars had entered the cell, the first time they were the main match card at a WWE event and the first time the Women’s Championship was defended inside the cell. After a year-long rivalry, The Queen stood tall at the end of this brutal match to regain the WWE Raw Women’s Championship for a third time.

Batista vs Triple H (2005) Vengeance

He’s The King of Kings, a nickname with no hint of exaggeration considering that Triple H is essentially WWE royalty. However, in 2005 he took on one of his greatest rivals, Batista, who had already beaten The Game at both WrestleMania and again at Backlash. However, Triple H challenged Batista to one final bout in the hopes that he would tame ‘The Animal’. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound brute came out victorious, putting the feud with Triple H to rest.

Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar (2002) No Mercy

In 2002, Lesnar was on a rampage after defeating The Rock at SummerSlam to become the World Heavyweight Champion. With the title, comes a target on your back and a rivalry with The Undertaker quickly emerged. The Undertaker wasn’t willing to raise the white flag due to a broken arm and competed in the bout with a cast, which turned the cell into a blood bath. However, The Beast Incarnate came out victorious and remained the World Heavyweight Champion.

Undertaker vs Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Triple H vs The Rock vs Kurt Angle vs Rikishi (2000) Armageddon

A bout that the WWE Universe should be honoured to have witnessed as they’re unlikely to ever see the magnitude of that ever again. Six of the biggest names in WWE got locked inside a Hell in a Cell for the WWE Championship at Armageddon 2000.

The back-to-back action spilt outside of the ring and will forever be remembered as the match where Undertaker threw Rikishi off the top of the cell into the back of a truck filled with saw dust. However, The Olympic Gold Medalist went on to retain the WWE Championship and this match firmly cemented itself in the WWE history books.

This year’s event promises to be better than ever and with just a few days out from showtime we can expect to see the EST of WWE is set to take on The Empress of Tomorrow and Big Time Becks, who are both out to usher in a new era in a Raw Women’s Title Triple Threat Match. The All Mighty will take on Omos and MVP in a Handicap Match and Seth “Freakin” Rollins is ready to take on Cody Rhodes in hopes to win after two previous defeats. The up-and-coming Ezekiel, “younger brother of Elias,” will go one-one against Kevin Owens and fans will also see the combined forces of Finn Bálor, AJ Styles & Liv Morgan will look to stand against scourge that is The Judgment Day.

Don’t miss the highly anticipated title clashes on Monday, 6 June, live on SuperSport Grandstand (201) and WWE Network between 02:00 – 07:00 (CAT).
