Mixed fortunes for Binders in Assen MotoGP
Red Bull’s Brad Binder claimed a fifth-place finish in Sunday’s Assen MotoGP while his brother Darryn failed to finish.

Red Bull’s Brad Binder claimed a fifth-place finish in Sunday’s Assen MotoGP while his brother Darryn failed to finish.
Also failing to finish was reigning world champion and current riders standings leader Fabio Quartararo who crashed twice on a bad day for Yamaha.
Darryn Binder, Quartararo and his teammate Franco Morbidelli all failed to complete the race while the younger Binder’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso could only manage a 16th place finish.

Quartararo first clattered into Aleix Espargaro and then came off in a scary high side.
The defending world champion lamented his errors: “A rookie mistake. It was only the third lap and I acted like it was the last one!
“It was totally my mistake.
“I apologise to Aprilia and to Aleix for [putting] him out of the track.
“I thought there was a problem but the team told me to stop because the rain was supposed to come.
“It was normal to go and see him. He was the man of the race, amazing pace.
“It is normal to go and apologise in this situation.
“The only thing is the mistake in this race which was super-stupid. Of course I am happy but this race made me angry.
“I could have fought for victory but made a stupid mistake. I will learn from it.
“We spoke before the race about being calm but I was the opposite.”

Francesco Bagnaia kept his nose clean on his Ducati to record his third victory of the season and bag a welcome full house of points after failing to finish in the last two races.
“I am so happy after two difficult races,” the Italian said.
It was a great day for Italian riders as Marco Bezzecchi on his VR46 Ducati came second.
Spaniard Maverick Vinales rounded out the podium in the 11th race of the 20-season.
