With the first leg resulting in a 2-1 loss for Mamelodi Sundowns, they will look to capitalise on the away goal advantage and secure victory in front of their home fans at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.

The return of Peter Shalulile a boost for Mamelodi Sundowns

 Mamelodi Sundowns will be delighted to have Peter Shalulile back in action for the AFL Cup final against Wydad Casablanca. The dynamic 30-year-old forward had been sidelined with an ankle injury since August. Despite his absence, Shalulile has already made a significant impact this season, scoring five goals in all competitions.

A Positive Assessment by the Coach

 In an interview with Robert Marawa, the Mamelodi Sundowns’ 36-year-old mentor expressed his satisfaction with Shalulile’ s progress during his recovery. The coach acknowledged the improvement in key players like Lucas Ribeiro, Bathusi Aubaas, and Shalulile himself.

”I saw a much better Lucas,”. I saw a much better [Bathusi] Aubaas. And I saw a much better Peter Shalulile,” as reported by FARPOST.

“Even though there are no guarantees yet because we’ve got quite a few training sessions. For the mere fact they are on stage three, leading into the stage where they will work with the conditioning coaches to try to assess and test their level from a conditioning point of view.”

“Now that we had a medical check and some good recovery for the boys, I saw him. He looks in a good space like many of the others… hopefully he’s ready,” he added.

However, he emphasised that there are no guarantees yet and that final assessments will be made in collaboration with conditioning coaches. Nevertheless, the coach’s positive remarks indicate Shalulile’ s potential readiness for the final showdown.
