Mako: “I am so happy the plumber won the Nedbank Cup”[WATCH]

Following Pirates’ Nedbank Cup win, Paseko Mako took dig at social media critics who called his coach Jose Riveiro a ‘plumber.’

Orlando Pirates defender Paseko Mako took dig at social media critics who called his coach Jose Riveiro a ‘plumber’ after winning the Nedbank Cup on Saturday evening.

Having won the MTN8 late in 2022, The Buccaneers secured a domestic cup double following a 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup final clash at the Loftus Versfeld.

Sibusiso Vilakazi opened the scoring early on for Babina Noko only for them to concede a controversial penalty before half-time. Thapelo Xoki slotted home from the spot to make the scores level before Terrence Dzvukamanja blasted the winner in injury time.

MAKO HAPPY FOR THE ‘PLUMBER’

After the win, Mako was full of praises for his coach.

“I’m happy that “the plumber” won the Nedbank Cup,” The defender told SuperSport TV.

“They were calling our coach ‘the plumber’ and now he is a champion. I’m so happy for him,” said Mako

Mako said winning the trophy meant a lot to the team and it was a nice reward for all the hard work they put in.

“It means a lot to us and the fans and family of Orlando Pirates,” he said.

“Because it’s a reward, because we worked so hard at training, even outside.

“It means a lot to us and now I want to go and celebrate,” said Mako.

With Pirates having won the Nedbank Cup, it concludes the end of the 2022/23 season. What’s left now is the DStv Premiership awards which takes place on 28 May.

The virtual awards ceremony will be broadcasted live on the SuperSport PSL channel (202) and SABC 1 on Sunday, 28 May 2023 at 20h00.
