13:20 Anyway, that’s it from us. Back to work. Or lunch. Or whatever it is you were doing before you spent 15 minutes of your life watching people stick their hands into a glass bowl and pull out balls. Bye!

13:19 Look, we know it’s the Champions League and it’s mega and it’s all the bells and whistles, but if you’re going to go ra-ra and set up a whole draw then at least give us some sort of something that’s exciting, no?

Not that the fixtures aren’t exciting, but it always feels like a mega let down after all that fanfare.

13:17: Here’s a recap of the Champions League quarter-final:

Barcelona v Roma

Sevilla v Bayern Munich

Juventus v Real Madrid

Liverpool v Manchester City

13:16 And before you can even blink, the draw is over and all the people swanning about in their suits can go back home. Seriously, can we not just automate the thing?

13:15 Well that’s all splendidly underwhelming. No Classico, two English teams against each other and a repeat of last season’s final.

13:14 Liverpool vs Man City…

13:13 Juventus vs Real Madrid…

13:12 Next up: Sevilla vs Bayern….

13:11 First ball….Barca…second ball… AS Roma.

13:10 Ooh! Shuffling is happening.

13:07  Giorgio Marchetti, Uefa’s deputy general secretary, is our drawmaster. But we have to watch some more dramatic footage with edgy music before we actually get to that part. Andriy Shevchenko joins him and now they are talking about his predictions. And he refuses to actually make any predictions.

13:04 Well, no, you can’t actually. Because you’re there and we’re here…

13:01 The show is on the road… or our TV screens anyway. We’re now going through all the teams who are still in the draw with some dramatic footage and music.

12:54 Okay, we’re almost ready to roll. There will be faffing. So stick with us.

12:46 The best part of live draws is just how seriously everyone takes them.  Somebody is sticking their hands in a glass bowl and fiddling with balls and the world stares. It’s quite something.

Wouldn’t it be easier (and cheaper) just to send a press release? Or maybe just automate the whole thing like the Lotto does?

12:38 Custom draw bowls, where ya at?

12:36 If you’re wondering how big of a deal this draw is in some corners of the world, check this out from today’s edition of Marca. That translates to  “the greatest draw in the world”. Bit extra, but hey, different strokes and all of that…

12:15  The draw will start at 13:00 SAST and takes place at Uefa’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

How does the draw work?

The draw will work a bit differently to the last-16 draw, there will be no seedings and teams from the same country can play each other.

Teams drawn first will play the first leg at home, teams drawn second will, therefore, play the second leg at home.

Who is in the Champions League Quarter Finals?

With Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur being kicked out, it’s now up to Manchester City or Liverpool to bring some european glory back to England. Could they get it done?

  • Real Madrid
  • Liverpool
  • Juventus
  • Manchester City
  • Sevilla
  • AS Roma
  • Barcelona
  • Bayern Munich

When will the Champions League quarter finals be played?

The quarter-final first legs will be played on 3 and 4 April 3, with the second legs played on 10 and 11 April.
