Supersport United have confirmed that star striker Jeremy Brockie is on his way to Pretoria rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The news was announced on social media by United’s CEO Stan Matthews who confirmed that the two clubs have reached an agreement of the 30-year old’s signature.

“It’s never easy to lose a key player like Jeremy‚ especially off the back of three great seasons with us in which we made 5 Cup Finals and he became the second highest scorer at the club‚” Matthews said.

‘‘We also understand that at his age this is Jeremy’s last big move and an opportunity to secure his financial future.”

Matthews reflected on the New Zealander’s impact on the club since joining in 2015 and gave his best wishes for the future.

‘‘Given that he has made a significant contribution to the club on and off the field our board have agreed to sanction his move to Mamelodi Sundowns and we wish him well in his future,” Matthews continued.

Brockie has for much of this season been a subject of drawn out transfer saga as he was linked with a possible movie to anyone of SA football’s three biggest clubs with Orlando Pirates, at some stage, said to be his most likely destination.

The off-field scramble has seemingly affected his performance on the field as he has only found the net once so far in the current league campaign.

Following Supersport’s defeat to Bidvest Wits on Wedenesday night, coach attributed the striker’s sudden inability to find the net to off-field factors surrounding him, saying his mind appears to be elsewhere.

Log leaders Sundowns have been on the market for a target man since offloading Colombian Leonardo Castro to rivals Kaizer Chiefs earlier during the transfer window.
